Tata Motors said on World EV Day 2022 that it would soon release its next electric vehicle (EV). This time, the Indian automaker will focus on the cheaper EV market and bring out the Tata Tiago EV hatchback in India. The new Tata Tiago EV hatchback will be released in India in the coming months. It will be Tata’s first electric vehicle (EV) in the country and could be one of the most affordable EVs there. Follow hitsbuddy for latest news.

The EV hatchback should make it easier for people to get into the lineup and could have a lot of potential in the mass market EV segment. In India, Tata sells the Xpres-T EV, the Tigor EV, the Nexon EV Prime, and the Nexon EV MAX. Tata started selling the Xpres-T EV in India in July 2021 for Rs 9.75 lakh. It is their least expensive EV in India right now.

Tata Motors will soon release the Tata Tiago electric vehicle in India.

The Tata Tiago EV shown at the 2018 Auto Expo. It is based on the Tata Tiago ICE hatchback. The Indian car company has now said the product could soon be coming to India.

The Tata Tiago EV would have similar parts to the Tata X-Press T EV and the Tata Tigor EV. The X-Press T EV has a low-powered motor and is only available for fleets. Based on the Ziptron design, the Tata Tigor EV has a more powerful motor and a bigger battery, and private buyers can buy it.

Tata Motors could use the 41bhp electric motor available on the Tata X-Press T EV. This motor is paired with a 16.5kWh battery pack that gives a claimed range of 165 km and a 21.5kWh battery pack that gives a claimed range of 213 km.

But Tata Motors could put the same Ziptron powertrain in the Tata Tiago that is in the Tigor EV. This would give the car the 75hp and 170Nm of torque that the motor is capable of. It paired with the 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack to get a range of about 306km. On the Tigor EV, however, Tata splits the battery pack in half, and one half lives in the trunk. Given that the hatchback has a smaller trunk, it’s only a matter of time before we find out how Tata engineers plan to use the battery.

We’ll have more information to share as the launch date gets closer. Tata Tiago EV prices very attractive and kept between Rs 10 and 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
