Multiple sightings of the five-door Mahindra Thar on Indian roads this year show that testing of the model has already begun. This version of the SUV will compete with the five-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the five-door Force Gurkha, which are both coming soon from their own brands.
Mahindra is also working on new versions of the three-door Thar that will come out in the first quarter of 2023. Even though we don’t know exactly what makes these new models different from the current ones, we expect them to be new combinations of body styles (hard-top, soft-top, and convertible-top, with gasoline or diesel engines and manual or automatic transmissions).
