Wolverine

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will join the MCU in Deadpool 3.

Entertainment News

Ryan Reynolds teased tonight that a new Deadpool movie coming out in 2024 will bring Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, along with his own version of the merc with a mouth.

Reynolds confirms in the teaser that Deadpool 3 will come out in theatres in 2024, which is also the 50th anniversary of his first appearance in The Incredible Hulk #181. Why does that make sense? Well, Reynolds also confirmed that Wolverine himself will be in the movie. This was a play on his long fake fight on social media with actor Hugh Jackman and meant to show that Wolverine will also be in the movie.

After appearing in almost every Fox X-Men movie since 2000’s X-Men, Jackman’s iconic take on the character seemed to die in Logan. However, it seems that you can’t keep a mutant who can heal himself down. It remains to be seen how Deadpool 3 will mix the character’s loose ties to the world of the first two movies with the new Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney bought 20th Century Fox in 2019. It also remains to be seen how Jackman’s Wolverine will fit into the MCU’s still-new exploration of the X-Gene.

But since Deadpool 3 is coming out a year before the recently announced Avengers: Secret Wars, which is named after a Jonathan Hickman comic event in which the Marvel Multiverse was broken up and put back together, the most likely answer is “some multiversal madness.” And no, not that madness with the many worlds.

When Deadpool 3 comes out in theatres on September 6, 2024, he will probably have a lot to say about sharp claws and parallel universes.
