India will start using 5G next month. Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, two of the biggest phone companies in the country, have both said that they are ready to start offering 5G services in the country next month. Since people are curious about how much 5G will cost in the country, it is likely that telcos will price their 5G services the same way they do with 4G. 5G prices in India will be the same as 4G prices, and telcos will work to get more people to use it.
A report in the Economic Times (ET) says that Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are likely to offer their 5G services for the same price as their 4G services. Industry executives and analysts are quoted in the report as saying that launching 5G services at the same price as 4G will encourage more people to use them in the country as a whole.
Telcos probably won’t charge more for 5G services in the beginning because they want 4G users to switch to the next-generation mobile network. Experts are quoted in the report as saying that telcos might think about charging more for 5G services after getting a certain number of users to set themselves apart. This won’t happen soon, though, because 5G phones are still a bit pricey.
How much does 5G cost in India?
Rohan Dhamija, India head at Analysys Mason, was quoted as saying that 5G operators aren’t likely to charge more than 4G rates at first because their main goal right now is to get more people to use 5G so they can get faster speeds, use more data, and increase ARPU.
Dhamija also used the UK as an example, saying that 5G services were launched at a higher price than 4G, but the higher price was taken away because it made it harder for people in the region to use 5G.
